hello long lost blog

Since summer I have been telling myself and others that I will update my blog soon. Unfortunately I've kept putting it off and I haven't for months. 2010 was a great year and I have lots of stories and photos to share soon.

my jupie

I am a only child and love the relationship I have with my parents, but at times I have wondered what it would be like to have a sister or brother. I see how much my husband loves his sister. I watch my children and although they fight a lot, they absolutely adore each other and miss each other when they are apart. My mom is the oldest of 10 kids (maybe that's why she just had one). Growing up we were around her family a lot. I'm close to my cousins, but especially close to my cousin Kenetha. My first memory is about her. Her family had come to my parents house to visit and she used the bathroom in my bedroom floor. Yes her using the bathroom in my floor is my first memory. When we were little we would talk about when we grew up, who we were going to marry and how our weddings would be. She was standing by me when I got married and I by her. So when I think about how it would be to have a sister, I think about my Kenetha, my Jupie.

I have two daughters that I am completely crazy about, but I would still like to have a little boy. I am super excited about Kenetha's baby because now I will have a little boy to spoil, but I won't have to go through being pregnant or the delivery.

These are the most well mannered kids I have ever photographed. They made my job easy!

hailey and caleb

I have fond memories of playing at Monica Jenkins Howard's house when I was young. I remember staying there on New Years Eve and covering her living room floor with confetti. Her mother would make homemade donuts that were better than anything you could get at the store. Saturday I photographed Monica's family. Her children look just like she did when we were children. Being with them brought back good memories and put a smile on my face.

the bardin sweeties

I recently had the opportunity to photograph and spend the afternoon with Kasey Bardin's children, Blane and Reese. They both were precious. I just wanted to snuggle instead of taking photos. I have known Kasey's family (The Burton's) for a while and they are all smiles. Her children are going to be the same way. They are one of those families that make you happy to be around.

In November of 2007 the Bardin's received the news that Blane had leukaemia. I don't even want to try to image what all this family has went through. I remember praying for them and hearing their family talk about how Kasey and her husband wouldn't leave their little man's side. When I would see Kasey from time to time she would still have a smile. I pray that I would be that strong, but to be honest I'm not sure I would if I were in her position. Now Mr. Handsome is cancer free and hasn't had treatment for almost two years. He is the most perfect little boy and is full of spirit. If my oldest daughter Marlei and him got together I'm afraid we would all be in trouble.

Baby Reese is the little princess of the family. She is adorable and so cuddly. She remind me of my Harper when she was little. I love her little bald head and hair bows (yes, I am one of those mothers who puts giant bows on their bald babies head). Every time Reese would get excited she would stick her tongue out. Little things like that just make my heart melt. I hope you enjoy their photographs, even I will say they don't do them justice.

miss lilly

I was looking at my blog and the Matilda Jane photos and I got hungry for Manners. If you haven't ate there you should try it. It's good dinner food (I love homemade french fries). I remember going their when I was a kid and its still the same great atmosphere.

maribelle harper

The first thing I see when my blog is loading, is the photograph of my oldest daughter Marlei. Her crooked grin always brings a smile to my face and makes my day go just a little bit better. I prayed for her and prayed for her and finally God blessed me with a perfect little girl. Apparently I prayed to much because four months later I was pregnant with her baby sister. I call Marlei my answered prayer and Harper is my unexpected blessing. A blessing is truly what Miss Maribelle Harper is. I can't image one second of my life without her. She is my snuggle bug and gives the best kisses (although the entire side of your face is wet with slobber when she is finished). From the time I first heard her heart beat on the ultrasound till now, I knew that God has big plans for my little girls life. I don't know if she is going be the next Lottie Moon or Beth Moore or maybe a kindergarten teacher that shows her students how special they are. The thing I do know is that God has something special planned for her life. I noticed that I didn't have any photographs of her on my blog so I wanted to write a special note just for her, my sweet baby Maribelle Harper.

matilda jane models

I have ideas that I think are just brilliant and sometimes they just don't turn out like I pictured in my head. This might just be one of those ideas. I will post more photos later of all the funny faces so you can see what I mean.

Leslie Wills is my Matilda Jane Trunk Keeper. If you have ever met her you know she is beautiful and always looks like she stepped out of a magazine. I don't think she knows how to look bad. Her daughter Lilly is going to be the same way. This week I met her and her two adorable children at Manners in Jamestown to take a few photographs to showcase the Hampton Bay line. We had planned to shoot outside, but the weatherman thought other wise. Snow and little girls in sandals just don't mix. So here are our children and a sneak peak of the Hampton Bay line.

matilda jane photo special

If you haven't been introduced to Matilda Jane clothing, you are missing out. It is by far my favorite children's clothing company (they make adult clothes too). Their clothes are adorable and are super comfortable. For this reason I have a trunk show every spring to stock up my princesses. Everyone is invited to come and see the cute clothes. I just need to warn you that their cuteness is addictive. After I received my first knot dress I was hooked.

my new adventure

I like people who are real. Women who are confident enough to wear a bikini even if they are a few lbs over weight, men who openly admit they cry, people who aren't afraid to be an individual even when society tells them that they should be someone else. I like seeing the world through other peoples lenses and for this reason I love photography. I have recently been photographing wonderful people that make me happy to be around. Parents that adore their children. Husbands that still blush when they look at their wives. When I give clients their photographs they see the moments I've captured, but they don't realize how they have touched my life. For this reason I have started this blog.
